In 2010 Mr Mwangi was named by the Financial Times as one of the 50 emerging market business leaders that have shaped the economic performance of their regions. In September 2011 the Africa Investor magazine chose him as the African Banker of the Year for the second year in a row.
He is currently the CEO & Managing Director of Equity Bank, Kenya. James holds four Honorary doctorate degrees in recognition of his contributions to the Kenyan society. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree and is a Certified Public Accountant. James has been honoured twice with Presidential national awards. He is currently the Chairman of Kenya’s Vision 2030 Delivery Board charged with the responsibility of ensuring Kenya becomes a middle income country with global high standards of living by the year 2030.
James serves on several international bodies as an advisor and sits on the Board of the Africa Leadership Academy in South Africa. James has over 22 years of management experience.
